You are invited to participate at the Online Seminar on Strain and 2D Perovskites (S2DP), on the 11th of July 2022.
In the recent years, layered two-dimensional (2D) hybrid perovskites have gathered significant attention due to their exceptional optoelectronic properties and highly tunable structure. 2D perovskites are comprised of slabs of metal-halide octahedra, separated by large, organic cations, to create a layered structure. When employed as solar cell absorbers, these large cations improve the stability and charge carrier extraction of the perovskite active layer. In addition, the color of emission of 2D perovskites can be tuned by changing the halide and organic cation, making 2D perovskites attractive for light emission applications. The presence of the organic spacer with tunable rigidity also provides a lever with which to manipulate the mechanical properties and responsiveness to external stimuli in these materials. Such tunability makes this class of materials a potential platform for many applications where high sensitivity to external mechanical stimuli and reversibility are desirable, such as amphidynamic materials, flexible solar cells, smart materials, and pressure sensors.
This seminar brings together international researchers who investigate the mechanical and optical properties of 2D perovskite phases. Topics of interest include determining the bulk moduli of different 2D perovskites, mechanical strain in thin films, growth and properties of films of 2D phases, lattice distortions within 2D perovskites, and the response(s) of 2D perovskites to applied pressure. Showcased here are the contributions from researchers at a variety of career stages.
