Mixed Sn-Pb perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with hole transporting layer(HTL) free structure have gained attention due to their potential to reduce costs and improve stability. However, the interfacial properties between indium tin oxide(ITO) and perovskite active layer limiting the power conversion efficiency(PCE). To address this issue, a p-type additive, guanidinium thiocyanate(GaSCN), was introduced to achieve favorable band bending at the interface between perovskite and ITO. By incorporating GaSCN, a significant improvement in hole extraction ability, resulting in a enhancement of PCE from 13% to 20%. In addition, photoluminescence (PL) measurement demonstrated the suppression of non-radiative recombination with the GaSCN additive. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) showed the enlargement of the grain size with the GaSCN additive. With the GaSCN additive, the PCE is comparable to state-of-the-art high-performance fully structured mixed Sn-Pb PSCs, providing insights into the development of more efficient and stable HTL-free PSCs, which can pave the way for the development of more efficient and cost-effective solar cells.
