Methylammonium iodo bismuthe (MBI) perovskite is a promising alternative material for lead perovskite devices because of its low toxicity and good stability with compared to lead based perovskite [1]. Bismuth triodide and methylammonium iodide (MAI) was dissolved in DMF for preparation of the spray solution. The spray deposition technique was used to deposit bismuth iodide perovskite thin films with different thicknesses. The crystal structure of the MBI perovskite was determined from X-ray diffraction measurement having diffraction peaks well matched with the reported values. The optical absorption measurement showed that the absorption edge was observed around 500 nm for all the samples with the absorption increasing with thickness of the film as expected. The optical microscopy showed the formation of the film with a crack free smooth surface. These MBI film can be used for the fabrication of lead free perovskite solar cell over a large area using the spray deposition technique very conveniently.
