Lead perovskites are currently leading the efficiency race in the field of photovoltaics, with record efficiency around 19%[1] Their potential application may be hindered, though, mainly by the high toxicity of lead. Although tin(II) is the obvious substitute, the materials containing this metal are usually air sensitive and unstable.  In this poster we summarize the recent work carried out in our lab towards the fabrication of stable tin perovskites.[2,3] Our main strategies are based on the preparation of mixed-halide Sn(II) perovskites and on the synthesis of Sn(IV) perovskites. All the materials have been characterized by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, X-Ray diffraction and microscopy techniques. The same techniques have been applied to the study of the stability of the materials. We are also working on the development of a method for the preparation of Sn(II) perovskite films via Chemical Bath deposition. Preliminary results on device fabrication and micro-to-milisecond transient absorption spectroscopy studies will be discussed.
